Winner — Best Overall Change Project

We are thrilled to announce that American Bath Group has been honored with the 2023 MACH Impact Innovation Award for Best Overall Change Project! This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative thinking of the entire ABG Digital Operations Team and everyone involved in these projects. We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment, which serves as a validation of our commitment to excellence. It also shows the dedication of American Bath Group to our vision of Making a Positive Impact on Peoples Lives through our fundamental pillars. Among these is Driving Innovation.

Our competition in this category included some industry heavyweights, such as World Wildlife Fund, Mars Candies, and Primark, who were some of the 6 finalists selected from over 75 entries. Last year’s winner, LEGO Corp., had set the standard high for this award.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us on this journey, this recognition will further inspire us to continue pushing boundaries and delivering exceptional results in the future.

What are the MACH Impact Awards?

The MACH Impact Awards, brought to you by the MACH Alliance, are the only awards honoring the most globally innovative and impactful technology projects that utilize a MACH (microservices-based, API-first, Cloud native SaaS, Headless) strategy.

The MACH Impact Awards put future-proof solutions in the spotlight! They aim to raise awareness of the real difference these projects are making in solving complex technical problems and creating measurable business value.

What did ABG do to get nominated?

ABG made a big change to its website systems. Prior to the change, we were using a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ platform that executed everything well but not great. While it was initially convenient to have all the functionalities available in one large platform, it was not always the most efficient or flexible way to operate.

With the support of the executive team, the decision was made to pivot to a different, faster, and more efficient way of working called MACH (also known as JAMStack). This allows us to pull information from a variety of specialized platforms, so we can leverage the best of the best for product information management (PIM), digital asset management (DAM), and much more. ABG now has more than 15 websites running on this new system and has generated significant savings in both dollars and man hours, while creating a scalable solution that allows us to grow wherever our ambition takes us.

This project was made possible by a collective of helpful partners, most notably Windward Digital and Konabos, but also Kontent.ai, Cloudinary, and Salsify. Above all, the tireless work of our MarCom Digital Operations team under the leadership of the Marc Lamothe, CMS Administrator, and Marina Besner, Manager of Digital Marketing —all of whom worked together to implement this new system.
